I was having a problem earlier with my Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 that was de-activated after using Windows Update. Excel was notifying me that I needed to activate my product but signing in kept failing to re-activate and I’d get an error that said “This account is not associated with this product”.
I tried all the suggestions found online: Made sure I was using the correct Microsoft/Live account, Repaired the installation, Reinstalled all of office, removed registry entries, as well as reinstalling the activation key via command-line. Nothing worked, I even double-checked my activation key at https://setup.office.com to make sure it was still valid.
That’s when I ended up at https://account.microsoft.com/services/ and noticed that my Office 2016 Pro Plus key wasn’t even shown as associated with my account even though I only have one account. I decided to check my Excel again just to make sure I wasn’t logged into a different account and ended up noticing something strange – my Excel was both “Activated” and “Required Activation” like other people asking for help online. However, this issue seems to only happen when different versions of MS Office are installed and I only had one version. It did give me an idea, though.
How to Fix MS Office Pro Plus 2016 that is Both Activated and Won’t Activate at the same time.
I decided to try signing out of my Microsoft account. When I signed out, the notification to activate went away and the one that said “activated” stuck around. I did some more reading and apparently Office 2016 Pro Plus is a MSDN product really only for commercial users, not regular consumers, and logging in with an email account screws with Office products if they are activated by key only and not also a MS account.
Solution: Just log out and you can activate using just an activation key by itself. You can safely log back in after restarting computer and Office will show you as both Activated and Requiring Activation but you will still have all features and that annoying activation pop-up will no longer bug you every time an Office app is opened.

Since then, John has made it his mission to expose as much hidden fiberglass in mattresses as possible. His ultimate goal is federal regulations that ban fiberglass from being used in mattresses, or at least a law that require it to be listed in the material tags.
